Client feedback
“ Dave helped produce an intelligent well thought out piece of work for ETT, benefits of which both we and our customers continue to enjoy. ” Derek Thompson, ETT
The Electrical Training Trust is the nominated Department for Employment and Learning provider for NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation training in Northern Ireland under the Jobskills and Training for Success Modern Apprenticeship programmes.
Requirements
The Electrical Training Trust needed to re-develop their website to improve the visual appearance and increase its effectiveness as a marketing tool and information resource. The new visual design style was to be colourful, friendly and inviting, to engage users and increase time spent on the site. It was also important that the information was easy to find and that the user could navigate through the site in a linear manner
Solution
The new site was built around the new corporate identity and a lot of the imagery was modified from existing marketing material in order to ‘work’ online. The content was provided already organised, so I started with a predetermined architecture that had been developed essentially for offline purposes. However with the adoption of an extremely transparent navigation paradigm all information was within easy reach of the website visitors. The whole solution was built using usability and accessibility benchmarks and included a number of enhancements, including microformats (an increasingly common web standard) a google map that provides directions from your location to ETT offices, and a calendar of course dates, to name a few. UPDATE: Some new features have recently been added to the site including a video and an online registration process. I was not involved in these. I do however know who created the excellent video and would be happy to pass on any contact details of interested parties.
