Requirements
Kevin wanted a website that could make him stand out above his competitors. It was important to him to be able to showcase his work and convey a sense of quality about his workmanship. (I told him I could relate to that! and so our professional relationship was off to a good start). He also needed an information tool to advertise the products and services he offered and if possible some reasonable results in the search engines.
Solution
As always I was happy to oblige. First things first, I created an appealing design based on the logo he provided and built him a quick to download and easy to use website. With that done I concentrated on some calls to action: view our work, how to get a quote and of course easy to find contact details. A gallery was implemented using progressive enhancement, which means it works on any device, browser or operating system. In short it is viewable to everyone and enhanced for some. Always good to check with your developer if everyone can see the content! For good measure I added a search facility and some microformats, so his visitors could download his contact details directly into their address books on their computers in electronic format. Finally I rewrote all the copy and made use of some tried and tested natural/organic Search Engine Optimisation techniques in an attempt to get Kevin some search engine traffic. Not just random visitors but people likely to convert into prospects if not customers. I speak to Kevin regularly and by all accounts the website just keeps generating leads. Another happy customer, job done.
