Sandra Carson is a botanical artist, writer and teacher from County Antrim
Requirements
Sandra, or more accurately third parties acting on her behalf asked me to produce a simple marketing and sales tool that would showcase Sandra’s work, with a view perhaps to selling online. It was important that the detail of her oil based painting could be examined, in particular the texture and fine detail created with her palette knife and the layering of the oil paints themselves.
Solution
The website design was inspired and adapted from both the artists own work and a metaphor for the artists working environment. I created a one-page website using a gallery feature to display a selection of her paintings. Using some high resolution photographs I was able to show the finer detail of her oil based work, by implementing a zoom feature, making use of a popular javascript framework. The site also provided a background to the artists inspiration and history and contact information for anyone interested in buying her work.
