What I offer
The opportunity to bring your business or organisation into the information age, with an effective online presence that will add value for your website users. I want to bring professional and effective websites to everyone but specifically socially aware, environmentally friendly organisations and start-ups.
My core services
Strategic planning is vital to ensure the successful delivery of a web project and this holds true regardless of project size. Every web project starts with talking, scoping and research, followed by the definition of a web strategy that meets both your business requirements and your users’ expectations.
Good web design is a source of competitive advantage. Your site must load quickly, be easy to use, have well organised content, and have visual impact capable of attracting praise, visitors and business. Good web design is about communicating, not just making things look attractive.
Front-end web development
All my web development projects implement the highest degree of accessibility, usability, and search engine friendliness that I know how and I use the most up-to-date techniques. So whether you need a business, personal or community blog, a small or large website, I can provide you with a professional and effective solution.
Effective overall marketing strategies are all about blurring the lines between online and offline – obtaining a synergy from all your marketing efforts and thereby strengthening your brand. I can offer advice on and implement many online options including, video, podcasts, mobile marketing, search engine marketing and email campaigns.
Tracking & Reporting
I want to be accountable for all my websites.Through tracking and reporting how your website is being used and by whom and comparing these metrics over time, I can illustrate to you a return on your investment, and that you made the right choice. This is how I build and nurture trusting relationships with my clients.
I can design, build, host and advise you how to market, your eCommerce website, large or small, to help you acquire more customers, improve conversion ratios, increase order values and improve your customer service. I can guide you through the whole process ensuring you get the most effective solution.
How does hiring me benefit you?
Efficiency & Simplicity – take care of everything under one roof
Rather than having to micro manage a whole collection of web and marketing agencies, let me look after it all for you under one roof, freeing you up to concentrate on what you know best, your business. I can help you with your entire web strategy (design, development, hosting, marketing) or any part of it. Making things more efficient and hopefully saving you money. No Chinese whispers, no mistakes as a result of ambiguity between third parties.
Flexibility – benefit from a dynamic, creative, proactive agency
I am a small operation, which means I can react to developments in the internet quickly. This means you can be sure you will always enjoy cutting edge solutions. Partake of any service you want and ignore the rest or make full of use of my expertise by involving me in your entire web project.
I know website design & business – 2 for 1 offer!
I am not only a web designer but also a business and marketing graduate. I can offer you creative solutions that are both aesthetically pleasing and that offer you a return on your investment. I like to contribute ideas and talk through the various options available to you, to help meet your business objectives.
Freedom to go elsewhere – easy to move to another web company
I am committed to using web standards in all my web projects and open source solutions if appropriate. This means you will not be tied into propitiatory solutions and will be free to take all your data with you if you decide to leave. It also means that as someone who uses web standards I operate in an arena filled with many other talented designers and developers who work with these standards. You will always be free to look elsewhere for web services. Of course I hope you never feel that way.
It works both ways – if your business succeeds, my business succeeds
I’m in it for the long haul, building trust and relationships. It is in my interests to make sure you are delighted by my services. I only want to work with people who I can build a relationship with and deliver an excellent and effective online presence. If you are happy then I hope you will tell others about me, if you are not happy, I hope you tell me so I can rectify it. If we can’t resolve any issues I promise not to stand in the way of you moving to another provider.
“The Marlagh Training website has been a great success, with a good number of enquiries coming through which have led to new business. It has given us an inroad to companies where we had no previous leads at all. Development of the site was painless, the collaboration with the developer made it easy for us to single out the information that we wanted to communicate. The result has represented Marlagh Training as we had hoped. We feel it is a clear, informative and professional looking website ” Dorothy Jones, MD Marlagh Training

Generally speaking I don’t offer ‘off the shelf’ packages or deals. There is a very good reason for this. In my experience having worked on hundreds of web projects, it is almost impossible to accurately price a project, until after the planning and research has been done, the web strategy worked out and the full scope of the project is known. Although it may be easier for me, from the point of view of a business model, to sell pre-priced solutions it would not be in the interest of my client. Instead once I have reached a fuller understanding about what sort of web solution each client needs I can allocate the resources accordingly. I prefer to sit down and discuss your business objectives with you and then establish the following important 3 pieces of information.
- Your Budget
- Timescale – when do you need it for
- Scope – what features must be included in the project
These 3 pieces of information are all closely related and will ultimately determine the final price of the project. If your deadline for completion is soon and you want lots of features then your budget needs to be high. If your budget is low and you need the project completed quickly then don’t expect many features and so on and so forth. Ultimately I want to try and give you the optimal balance of these 3 elements.
I believe that each client is unique and should therefore be treated accordingly. I also believe that you know your business better than anyone and so I do not try and sell you a predefined solution and convince you that it will work for you. Instead I undertake a process where I listen to you tell me about your business and the direction you wish to take it and then suggest a solution to suit.
1. Getting to know you
First things first, is there potential for a successful and mutually beneficial business relationship? Do you fit my idea of a suitable client and do I fit your idea of the experienced, ethical professional you need to help you with your web project? Believe me when I say this is the foundation stone.
2. Audit, review & plan web strategy
Using an array of tools, techniques and experience I take what is the key to making your web project a success and disguise it as an informal information gathering session. We take stock of where you are, where you are trying to get to and how we are going to get you there. Sounds fun eh!
3. Content collection and production
Content is key, content tells the world who you are: your aspirations, personality, and the benefits of choosing you. Content is also a conversation. You want to persuade, inform, and even entertain your audience. We need the content upfront so that I can create your website around it, without quality content your website will have no substance and may not be effective. I can help you produce content if you have none.
4. Design, development & review
So, we have your content and now the real fun part starts. I design a website that communicates your message and meets your objectives. You review the designs and if you are happy I turn them into a usable, accessible, search engine friendly and effective website. Depending on the size of the project we will schedule review meetings for you to keep an eye on progress and will also ask you to sign off on various stages of the design and development.
5. Marketing, publicity & launch
What use is a website if noone visits? This is one of the most overlooked aspects of developing an online presence. I will recommend, advise on and implement marketing strategies prior to launch, to ensure your website gets plenty of the kind of visitors you want, those who will convert into a customer or those who already are your customer and are now happier with your service (not just random surfers).
6. Tracking, reporting, reviewing & improving
Is your website working for you? Are you getting a good return on your investment? In order to answer these and other questions , I will on your behalf track and monitor you website usage and visitor profiles over the initial few months and provide you with a report at regular intervals. If needs be I can make small adjustments to design layout or content to make sure the website is doing its job. Finally if your budget allows for it we can consider improving the website or adding useful functionality to further advance your overall web strategy.
